Hunt Hickory Creek
I've been guiding in Kansas for almost 20 years. I used to hunt for myself but I realized that I had the opportunity to make other hunters dreams come true. I have the pleasure of meeting many nice people, and it gives me great satisfaction seeing the wide eyed hunter tell his stories of close encounters or awesome kills.
Being a bow hunter by heart, the scouting and stand placement gives me a lot of satisfaction. Where else can you be more than one place at a time - having hunters in stands that I set is just that! Hunting season is only a short time of the year, but I get to do what I love all year long - shed hunting, food plotting, and scouting.
If you get the chance to come down and sample what Hickory Creek has to offer, I bet it will leave a lasting impression. Our goal is to have satisfied hunters that come back every season to rekindle friendships and share good times!

Kansas Waterfowl Hunting
Welcome to Hunt Hickory Creek waterfowl division! First, thank you for your interest in hunting waterfowl with us here in Kansas. We are nestled in southeastern Kansas about 60 miles from Wichita, Kansas. Our goal here at Hunt Hickory Creek is to provide a stellar waterfowl hunt and while helping you make memories that will last you a lifetime. We pride ourselves in building relationships with our clientele that will leave you wanting more and more each year. Our guides are very knowledgeable about waterfowl hunting and the land that you will hunt on.
Guided Waterfowl Experience
We spend countless hours throughout the season scouting and prepping for your arrival. Our guides run a variety of decoys and decoys spreads so you do not have to bring your own! A few things that are recommended to bring are of course your gun, plenty of ammo, and at least knee-high water proof boots. Waders are most certainly an option but are not necessary for your hunting experience. It will be required that any birds that you harvest are to be tagged and cleaned prior to your next day or hunting. If you don't not tag and clean your birds prior to the next day’s hunt you will be excluded from the next day’s hunt until your birds are processed. The processing can be further explained by your guide upon arrival.
Typical birds that are harvested here in Kansas are as follows:
Ducks Mallards Pintails Gadwall Wigeon Divers
Geese Cackling Canada Geese Lesser Canada Geese Greater Canada Geese Snow Geese Specklebelly Geese
What to Expect
A typical day waterfowl hunting with us will start with and early morning coffee and continental style breakfast including cereal, muffins, Danish pastry, and bagels. You will then head out to your hunting location with your guide who will set the decoy spread, prepare the blind(s) and then continue to hunt with you throughout the morning.
We typically hunt out of a-frame style blinds or layout blinds. This is the same whether hunting a dry field loaded with Canada Geese (Cacklers, Lessers and Greaters), ducks and occasional Snow Geese or Specklebelly Geese or many of the watershed lakes or ponds that we have at our disposal. You may choose to go in for lunch or pack a lunch and continue to hunt throughout the day. At the end of your long day of hunting you will be escorted back to the lodge where a home-style meal will be waiting for you. Stories are told around the dinner table while getting a game plan together for the next morning.
Prices do not include hunting tag and license fees for the State of Kansas.
Reservations & Deposit
When you’re ready to reserve your waterfowl hunting trip, a $200 deposit is required to hold your trip date. The remaining balance is due upon arrival, and payable in cash or credit card.
Waterfowl Hunting Rules
Kansas hunting rules 50 CFR 20.35 FIELD POSSESSION LIMIT and 50 CFR 20.36 TAGGING REQUIREMENTS dictate specific rules for the possession and limits of game bird hunting in the State. Please review these restrictions prior to arriving for your waterfowl hunt with us.
