Pere David’s Deer are called Milu in their native country of China.
They can grow two sets of antlers in a year. Their summer rack is typically the larger of the two.
In 1860, the only herd of Milu in the world was located in the Emperor of China’s walled hunting preserve. The wall was broken when the Yongding River flooded in 1895. The flood drowned a few deer, but the majority escaped through the broken wall only to be eaten by starving peasants!
The wall was rebuilt but the damage had been done and only 30 Milu survived. The remaining Milu were later shot and eaten by soldiers occupying the grounds during the 1900 Boxer Rebellion!
Pere David’s get their name from Father David, the man who saved them (pere means “father” in French). Father David managed to smuggle a few out of China. With the help of zoos, the Duke of Bedford, and hunting ranches, their numbers have been growing ever since.
They are sometimes referred to as Sibuxiang, which translates to “four not alike.” They got this name because they are described as having “the hooves of a cow but not a cow, the neck of a camel but not a camel, the antlers of a deer but not a deer, the tail of a donkey but not a donkey.”
They lose up to 100 pounds during rut.

They got their name from the Tutsi tribes of Rwanda and Burundi. These tribes would mix the blood and milk of the Watusi to form high-protein shakes.
Their horns are used as giant radiators to keep cool; in place of antifreeze, they have a network of honeycombed blood vessels.
The population of Watusis has decreased in Africa because of civil war, government-supported crossbreeding schemes, and economic upheaval.
These Ankole-Watusis are really cool because they are able to adapt to harsh environments, have a high butterfat milk, lean beef, and maternal abilities that trump those of other domesticated bovine.
This breed has been promoted since 1983 by the Ankole-Watusi International Registry.

Flir Thermal Binoculars
4×4 Jeeps and Kawasaki Mules
Gen III BNVD Night Vision Goggles with PVS-14 optics
Larue Tactical OBR AR-10
LWRC AR-15 .223
If you are looking for a unique and exciting hunting experience, look no further. At Ox Ranch, you can hunt feral hogs with the same night vision tubes that Seal Team Six used to kill Bin Laden!
The night vision goggles we deploy provide us with a tactical advantage that allows us to locate and eradicate wild boars. There are a few different hunting techniques we utilize, but typically we deploy what we call “drive-by shootings.” This tactic involves off-roading, locating pigs, and eliminating them while in hot pursuit! The guns we use have IR laser beams that are invisible to the naked eye. We also use the “Spot and Stalk” hunting method with help from our thermal binoculars and thermal scoped weaponry.
This is all done without the use of any lights and using AR-15 weapons. No lighting provides us with the element of surprise, and in many cases the hogs will charge towards the vehicle when the shooting begins!
Interesting Feral Hog Information:
Feral pigs breed 1 1/2 times a year with 5-6 babies on average.
A single breeding pair of pigs could multiply into more than 20 million hogs in ten years’ time! This, in turn, could result in over 100 TRILLION pigs in 10 years’ time causing the end of the world as we know it!
They eat 3-5 percent of their body weight per day!
Ox Ranch has a pet pig named Bacon and a timber wolf named Shadow; believe it or not, the two of them were raised together and are best friends!
Although feral hogs might look like little chubby animals, these beasts are solid muscle and can charge up to 30 miles per hour!
Wild pigs have poor vision; however, their sense of smell more than makes up for it.
They are creatures of habit and tend to follow similar trails unless disturbed by humans. Their “home base,” however, is quite large at around 1,000 acres.
Feral hogs have been called “environmental vacuums” because of how destructive they are. They have an extremely negative impact on tree life because their diet disrupts the rooting and hard mast that trees need to thrive.
Around 750,000 feral hogs are killed each year in an attempt to control their population.
In medieval times, the wild boar was considered the most prestigious bounty because of how dangerous they were to hunt.

Aoudad Hunting Information
Aoudad sheep go by many names including aoudad goat, barbary sheep, waddan, arui, and arruis.

Jacob Sheep are named after Jacob in the Bible.
Genesis 30:40 says “And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban’s cattle.”
This is believed to be the oldest documented case of selective breeding.
One legend states that the Four Horn Jacob Sheep washed ashore to England from shipwrecks of the Spanish Armada in 1588!
Jacob Sheep are capable of growing 2-6 horns.
Genetically speaking, the multi-horned trait that is common among these creatures is known as split eyelid.
When there are extreme cases of split eyelid, there can be a complete separation of the upper eyelid in the middle, in which case these sheep are not bred.
The most desirable coloring of the Jacob Sheep is 40 percent random pattern and 60 percent white.
The fleece, or the coat, weighs approximately 3 to 6 pounds and is rather soft and springy.

Four Horned Jacob Sheep Hunting Information
