Captain David Newlin Fishing Charters
Thank you for looking at my website! I am a full-time professional career boat captain. I have fished the GA coast for over 40 years. I have been in the fishing guide / charter boat business since 1979. I have fished over 4,000 days on the GA coast. I have fished the offshore and inshore waters for every fish that swims in them.
ClientsI can put together a trip to suit your fishing needs from the ocean to the river, light or heavy tackle. I have selected a small group of the most experienced fishermen on the Georgia coast to help with my charters. No fishing license is needed, and all fishing tackle is included on all trips.
Inshore fishing for trout, redfish, whiting, sheepshead, flounder, blackdrum, and tripletail are my most popular trips. I usually fish over 150 of these trips every year. We are usually fishing the uncrowded, clean waters of St. Catherine’s, Ossabow, and Sapelo Sound. These trips are usually fishing with shrimp or a variety of artificial lures. These fish can usually be caught all year. This is a good trip for all ages to have fun and bring home some fish to eat. The trout usually run from 1 to 5 pounds. The redfish will average from 1 to 20 pounds with some big reds up to 50 pounds. I am fishing a custom-built 25 foot boat with plenty of room. I will carry up to 4 fishermen per trip. During the summer months we can also combine this with a trip to a barrier island beach. The boat is equipped with new 2017 Evinrude motor, trolling motor, and quality fishing tackle.

Big Tarpon, Sharks, Redfish
June thru October -Fishing for Big Tarpon from 80 to 200 pounds In early summer these fish invade the near shore and in-shore waters of Coastal Georgia. I operate the only real tarpon trips in the Northern half of the Georgia coast. Over the last 20 years I have caught hundreds of big trophy tarpon. We have released several fish that would have easily pushed the scales around 200 pounds. We usually fish with a combination of live and dead baits, and artificial lures. With real bait we usually fish with 8 foot rods with 50 pound line, we can go lighter if you want to. With artifical lures we usually use spinning tackle, with powerbraid line, from 30 to 50 pound test. This is a real rough and tumble fishing trip, for the fisherman who wants to catch a trophy Tarpon. The best fishing is usually July and August, Some years June and September are real good.
