About this trip
Rockfish and Ling Cod
Rockfish and ling cod opening day is March 9th, 2019.
Our traditional bottomfish trip is still the favorite for most. With a 7 fish limit, action on the Black or Yellowtail Rockfish gets fast and furious. This is an all ages event, never a dull moment! In addition to the rockfish, we are also allowed to keep 2 Ling Cod per person. Ling Cod are ugly, but mmm... they taste so good! Herring, shrimp fly lures, and live anchovies are the proven "fish getters" year after year. Thanks to the rebuilding of Canary Rockfish stocks, and the willingness of our fishery managers to relax the regulations, Canary are now 100% keepers! They can make a colorful addition to 7 fish rockfish limit.GET THE FRY PAN HOT! WE'RE GOIN' FISHIN'! (No Braided Line please if you bring your own rod/reel)
2019 Costs: Weekdays - $150 until June 30, $160 after that date; includes pole, bait, tax and gear.
Weekends - $160 includes pole, bait, tax and gear.

Salmon opening day will be announced in April.
This is the foundation trip that put Westport on the map as early as the 1950's. Salmon are one of the most exciting sport fish known to man, and they are all the rage at Westport Charters. Ocean caught Salmon are not just beautiful to look at, they are awesome to catch and also second to none if you desire flavor! A Salmon fresh from the sea, prepared with your special recipe, will have your taste buds dancing and anxious for your next trip to Westport. Chinook and Coho salmon (nicknamed Kings and Silvers) will be the top prize for anglers fishing at Westport next summer. (No Braided Line please if you bring your own rod/reel) Salmon fishing generally opens on July 1st and runs until Labor Day.
2019 Costs: $160 includes bait, tax and gear.

Combination trips opening day is around July 1st.
Can't decide whether to salmon or bottom fish this season? Our combination salmon/bottomfish trip just might interest you. As the name implies, we combine a bottomfish trip with a salmon trip on the same day. They work great for people with busy lives who might only have one chance a year to come to Westport. If you love the taste of fresh whitefish fillets, but desire the thrill of a "Big King" on your line and can't decide, our combination trip is for you! We get to catch a lot of fish on this trip, so we scoot the departure time just a little bit earlier. Sorry sleepyheads. For more information and selected dates on combo trips, give us a call. HAVE FUN!! (No Braided Line please if you bring your own rod/reel)
2019 Costs: $225 includes bait, tax and gear.

NEW trip added for 2019.
The deepwater trip will target Ling Cod (large variety) and a variety of rockfish. Thanks to the rebuilding of certain groundfish species and the relaxing of regulations by our fishery managers, we now get to offer, for a limited time, this special Deepwater Fishing Trip. We are also happy to say that Canary Rockfish (but not Yellow Eye) which have been off limits for years are now rebuilt and available to us in the rockfish limit. Great News!!!
These trips will take place in offshore waters that have been closed for many years (except for the few sselect halibut directed days). We are really excited to add this Deepwater experience to our suite of fishing opportunities. These will be limited load trips (meaning less passengers are taken than a typical bottomfish trip) and they will be available during the first two weeks of June and the first two weeks of September only. That is how the regulations are set up so we are promoting this Deepwater Trip during the two open periods. Remember, like Halibut, these trips can be physically demanding, so if you're a bit frail or new to ocean fishing we continue to recommend the regular bottomfish trip that still targets the delicious whitefis
